Algreen (powder)
Due later this year
Algreen® from Performax is currently being developed. It is expected to be launched this year.
Why Algreen®?
In terms of value for health, algae easily come out winners in a comparison with vegetables. They are particularly rich in vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, amino acids and omega 3-fatty acids. However, the Chlorella pyrenoidosa alghinata also contain alginates. In this respect, Algreen® is unique. Alginates work positively on the intestinal flora and the immune system.
In other words, Algreen® is a super-vegetable - with alginates!

Contains no
gluten, yeast, milk components (lactose), animal products, preservatives, artificial colourings, odorants and flavourings, artificial sweeteners or herbs (hypo-allergenic).
I saw that Algreen® contains Chlorella. Surely this is an alga which can be obtained elsewhere?
There are many micro-algae that belong to the Chorella family. The most widely used variety, which has been grown and eaten in China and Japan for thousands of years, is the Chlorella vulgaris. This chlorella has also been available as a food supplement in our country, for many years. However, the disadvantage of this alga variety is that it has a relatively thick cell wall, and as a result is poorly digestible. To ‘solve’ this problem, this chlorella is sometimes mechanically broken down using a so-called ‘dyno-mill’. However, the nutritional value of this chlorella suffers considerably as a result.
Unlike the Chlorella vulgaris, the Chlorella pyrenoidosa has a very thin cell wall, making this destructive process unnecessary. The same also applies for the Chlorella pyrenoidosa alghinata in Algreen®. This is a variety of chlorella occurring naturally in the Netherlands. Alongside its thin cell wall, this alga is particularly rich in alginates (and other superior nutrients).
Because they are grown in the Netherlands, these varieties must meet far stricter quality requirements that varieties imported from Asia.

Is Algreen® the same as spirulina?
Spirulina is the best know ‘algal’ product, but it is in fact a bacteria. Cyano bacteria bears the official name Arthrospira platensis. It is grown in seawater.
Algreen® is grown in freshwater, and contains real algae with higher levels of the majority of vitamins and minerals than occurring in spirulina.

Is Algreen® genetically modified?
Algreen®, Chlorella pyrenoidosa alghinata® is an alga discovered in the wild. Through natural selection for growth characteristics, it is possible to ensure that this alga contains optimum levels of vitamins and minerals. Absolutely no use is made of genetic modification.
Algreen®: energy direct from the sun!
Using solar radiation, algae in water are capable of producing practically all the substances the human body needs from relatively simple ingredients such as minerals and carbon dioxide. This concentrated solar energy is stored in the cells of Algreen®, a product perfectly digestible by man.
